HI i am going to be doing a portrait shoot here within the next couple of weeks and i was wondering what style flash is best for outdoor shooting? or what is best for a beginner?

I've been using the 430ex for about a year now and I think it's perfect for the rebel series.
If you do buy one, I recommend buying some type of diffuser. I personally use a light sphere.

The 430EX is a good bet, easy to use, powerful and has High Speed synch which is pretty much essential for fill-flash with outdoor portraiture in daylight.
